Amazingly, the Mikelson 59 Nomad "Esperanza" displayed at Trawler Fest 2010, recently made a 1,831 mile round trip from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas and back to San Diego, burning a mere 1,394 gallons of fuel... TOTAL! Average speed was 9.7 knots, but included chasing tuna at 18 knots. There is no other vessel in the Mikelson Nomad Class that comes close to her amazing efficiency & performance.

Last year the richest and one of the largest fishing tournaments, The BISBEE Black & Blue, was won by a Mikelson 50, MI NOVIA. The second largest of the BISBEE tournaments, The BISBEE East Cape, was won by another Mikelson 50, CAPT JAKE. Between these two BISBEE Tournaments, there were 147 boats competing... and only four of them were Mikelsons... this speaks volumes.
The Mikelson 43's have been consistently winning and placing in the largest west coast tournaments including the largest, The Catalina Classic. A Mikelson 43 won this event in 2008 and 2002. A Mikelson 43 took second place in 2007. The Catalina Classic has averaged over 100 boats per tournament in the past 10 years with a relativly small percentage of Mikelsons entered. This again indicates that Mikelsons are dominating Vikings, Cabos, Hatteras, Bertrams, and Rivieras in catching tournament winning bill fish. learn more at
